Wema Bank Opens 2026 Bankers-in-Training (Sales) Programme — Applications Close August 24

Lagos, Nigeria

Wema Bank has announced the opening of applications for its 2026 Bankers-in-Training (Sales) Programme, a specialised entry-level track designed to groom the next generation of sales and relationship management leaders in Nigerian banking. The application window closes on Monday, August 24, 2026.

The programme is one of the bank's flagship graduate development initiatives and reflects Wema's continued investment in building a strong pipeline of young commercial talent across the country.

What the Programme Is About

The Bankers-in-Training (Sales) Programme is a structured development path built around three phases:

1. Classroom Training (Foundational) — Intensive instruction in banking operations, financial products, and credit analysis.

2. Shadowing & Field Immersion — Hands-on exposure to live banking activities.

3. Full Deployment — Transition into a Relationship Manager role.

The focus areas cover customer acquisition, product knowledge, and a working understanding of Commercial, Corporate, Retail, and SME Banking.

Regional Structure

Unlike many graduate programmes that run only in Lagos, this cohort adopts a regional training structure, with sessions held across:

- The North

- South-South & East

- Southwest (excluding Lagos)

This signals Wema's intent to deepen its commercial footprint beyond the country's commercial capital.

- Completed NYSC with a valid discharge certificate.

- 0–2 years of experience in sales and relationship management (an added advantage).
